Jean-Philippe Assal, a portrait (sous-titré en anglais)

I have known Jean-Philippe Assal for almost 25 years. We had just met when he offered to film his service at the hospital, in complete freedom. “You take a walk and then you tell me what you see. » That’s how it all started. Since then we have made numerous films together, all linked, directly or indirectly, to the theme of medical education – for caregivers and patients – his obsession. We have followed crossroads, marked by the seal of his creative sensitivity, his openness to the world and his long practice of medicine. One day, I said to myself that it was time to tell his story. Can we imagine how many choices and omissions it takes to recreate in just over an hour an entire life devoted to the arts and others? I, who am not a painter, took the risk of making his portrait. »
